How Long Before Kittens Open Their Eyes After Birth. Kittens develop very quickly from about two weeks of age until their seventh week. Kitten eyes begin to open in the first week or so the kittens eyes are given adequate time to develop in about seven to ten days following birth.

Longer haired kittens usually open their eyes between 10 14 days. Vision will be blurred at first. At first the retina is poorly developed and vision is poor.
